Fermentec invests in scientific and technological research, in its laboratories and in collaboration with other 22 Universities and Institutions of Brazil and Abroad. It maintain a cooperation contract with Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz" - USP, through the Fundação de Estudos Agrários "Luiz de Queiroz" - FEALQ, establishing an integration between the research and the sugar and alcohol industry
Currently, the main lines of work are:

  • Fermentation with higher alcoholic concentration in beer
  • Pioneering study on selected yeasts genome (PE-2, CAT-1 and VR-1)
  • Evaluation of new products and equipments to be used in industrial process and analytical control
  • Analysis of indicators of bacterial contamination
  • Creation of a bank of microorganism with more than 500 bacteria and yeasts

The yeasts PE-2 e CAT-1, selected by Fermentec are among the main strains used in the industry, by its higher efficiency and rate of implantation in different processes of alcoholic fermentation
